Self-portrait · Watercolour on paper
Conor Parsons is a Sydney-based watercolour artist whose work captures the raw, unguarded energy of the people around him. A graduate of UNSW's Bachelor of Fine Arts, he paints friends, strangers and everyday characters — at festivals, pubs, backyards and gigs — with a warmth that feels both documentary and deeply personal.
His paintings sit in the space between observation and intimacy. Loose and expressive in their handling, they preserve the spontaneity of a glance while revealing something true about the people inside them. The white of the paper bleeds through, figures are left unfinished at their edges, and nothing is overworked.
Conor's subject matter is unapologetically Australian — beer cans, singlets, wrestling moves, music festivals — rendered with genuine affection and a light touch of humour. These are portraits of belonging.
With a focus on portraiture and figurative works, Conor is open to commissions.
